Online Book Event on Antisemitism, July 21st
We are excited to hold our first totally open digital event this coming Sunday, July 21st for our book Safety Through Solidarity: A Radical Guide for Fighting Antisemitism. It will be free and open to anyone and hosted by the radical bookstore, the Firestorm Co-op in Asheville, North Carolina. We will be in conversation with Jewish anarchist author Cindy Milstein, discussing everything from antisemitism to anti-Zionism to antifascism. Take a look at the event information below and you can RSVP at the link at the bottom.
Antisemitism is on the rise today. From synagogue shootings by white nationalists, to right-wing politicians and media figures pushing conspiracy theories, it’s clear that exclusionary nationalist movements are growing. By spreading division and fear, they put Jews, along with other marginalized groups and multiracial democracy itself, at risk.
At this virtual event, authors Ben Lorber and Shane Burley share their new book Safety Through Solidarity: A Radical Guide to Fighting Antisemitism. In conversation with Jewish anarchist organizer Cindy Barukh Milstein, they’ll explore how antisemitism works and how we can build true safety through solidarity, for Jews and all people. Addressing the highly polarized climate around the war in Gaza, they’ll tackle difficult questions, including: how can we stand in solidarity with Palestinians seeking justice, while also avoiding antisemitism — and resisting those who seek to conflate the two? and how do we forge the coalitions needed to overcome the politics of division and fear?
